James 'June' Boone Cole, Jr., 79, of Wellington passed away Friday, October 8, 2010 at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk. Born on June 5, 1931 in Manton, KY, he was a son of the late James Boone and Darcus Patton Cole. James was a member of the Betsy Layne Freewill Baptist Church in Kentucky. As a youth, James was an avid softball player who played on a semi-pro league. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Hazel Lee Akers Cole; 4 children, Michael Lee (Nancy) Cole of Oberlin, Billie Lou (Raymond) Hunter of Honaker, KY, Kenneth Roy (LaShall) Cole of Wellington and James Jeffrey (Brenda) Cole of Wellington; 9 grandchildren, Anita Johnson, LaTisha Jarrell, Raymond Caner Hunter, Anthony Michael Cole, Erik Christopher Cole, James Bradley Cole, Kenneth Kyle Cole, Joshua Roy Cole, Jamie Lynn Lieby and 15 great grandchildren. James is also survived by 5 brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by 6 siblings. Friends and family will be received from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, October 11 at the Wellington Freewill Baptist Church, 205 Woodland St., where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Huntington Cemetery.
