James E. Daniel, 73, of Wellington died Monday, March 6, 2017 at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin. Born on May 31, 1943 in Elora TN, he was the son of the late Jesse and Lois (nee Moore) Daniel. James spent most of his life in and around the Wellington area. As a young man James worked helping build houses in Wellington, digging foundations by hand. He later got a job for General Motors where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1992. James was an active member of the UAW even into his retirement. He loved to spend time working in his garden and would share vegetables with his friends and neighbors. James was very handy and could fix just about anything, he liked to find things that others would throw out and tinker with them to make them work again. He was also a talented wood worker and built many things. James was passionate about cars and enjoyed working on and restoring antique vehicles. Survivors include his children Wayne (Julie) Daniel, of Wellington, and Samantha Taylor of Elyria; grandchildren David, Dominic, Michael, Ashley, and Ashia; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings Glenn "Pete" Daniels, of Wellington, and Carol Holick, of Fairview. Friends and family will gather on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 10 until the time of services beginning at 11 a.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St, Wellington 44090.
