Obituary

James Fletcher, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 7, 2020, a day after his 75th birthday.  He was born on August 6, 1945 in Willard to the late Bruner and Ollie (Barnett) Fletcher.

James was an example of a hardworking, honorable, and selfless man. He worked for Plymouth Locomotive and retired from the old Westinghouse factory in Mansfield. After retirement, he remained busy as a handyman, and with odd jobs.  His hard work persevered even well after his diagnosis.   Jim served his country as part of the United States Army and later the National Guard.  His service began in 1969 and lasted until 1985.  He also appreciated and enjoyed taking the scenic route and telling stories.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Rosetta (Ousley) Fletcher; children, James E. (Stephanie) Fletcher, Sean (Debbie) Ousley, Peggy Conley and Crystal Casperson; brothers, Edgar (Francis) Fletcher and Roger Fletcher; sister, Joyce Slone; grandchildren, Morgan, Nick, Megan, Holli, Sarah, Isaac, Jason, Timothy, Adam, Jeffrey and Robbie; 7 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Fletcher; sister, Opal Cole and son in-law, Mark Conley.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 9 a.m. until the time of the 11 a.m. service at The Messiah House of Prayer on Pettit St., Shiloh, where James attended, with Pastor Bill Howell officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh with military honors.  Out of respect for all in attendance, guests are reminded to bring and wear a mask and practice social distancing whenever possible.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
