James "Jim" G. Sholes, 75, of Norwalk, passed away at home early Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023, with his loving family and beloved dog, Daisy, by his side.

Jim was born on February 22, 1948, in Norwalk, OH, to the late Georgine (Martin) Sholes and Gilbert Leroy Sholes.

While still in high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He received his G.E.D while in the military and later received his associate's degree from Bowling Green. He continued serving in the military for the National Guard and later the Air National Guard. Jim was a dedicated truck driver for R&L Transfer for over 30 years. He had a charitable heart and generously gave to many worthy causes. Jim was a true patriot and a family man. His travels in the military and career as a truck driver led to many stories which he enjoyed sharing with his family. Jim enjoyed music, western movies, hot rods, and working on cars.

Jim is survived by his sons, James C. (Kristen) Sholes of Clyde, and Scott Sholes of Norwalk; grandchildren, Lathen, Addalyn, and Aeson; siblings, Mary "Ruth" Owens of Norwalk, William Sholes of Norwalk, and Mark (Cheryl) Sholes of Norwalk.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his faithful wife of 46 years, Evelyn Sholes.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 11 am in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.
