James Arthur Gosling, age 80, of Wellington died on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin. Born March 11, 1943, in Oberlin, to the late Mildred (Gillette) and Arthur Gosling, he lived in the same house in Wellington that his grandfather built for the entirety of his life. Jim was a 1961 graduate of Wellington High School before earning his associate degree from Lorain Community College in 1963 as a member of the first ever graduating class from the institution. He would later complete many continuing education courses throughout his career as an Electronics Technician. He worked for Lorain Products, now Emerson, for forty-three years.

Jim was an accomplished woodworker, he was incredibly skilled with a scroll saw and was well known throughout the state for his woodworking, having been featured in many newspaper articles. He loved spending time selling his creations at craft shows along with his beloved wife, Merry Ellen Hemphill.

In addition to his loving wife, Merry Ellen, whom he had been with since 1976, Jim is survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends are invited to visitation at Norton-Eastman Funeral home from 4:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, and again on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m..  A funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. and interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Wellington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wellington United Methodist Church.
