James C. Hancock

James C. “Jim” Hancock, 78, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, February 3, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 21, 1947, in Alexandria, Virginia to the late Mitchell and Gloria (Simber) Hancock.

Jim proudly served his country as part of the United States Army, during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart military award. He was a member of the Norwalk American Legion Post 41, and VFW Post 2743.

Jim loved working on cars, guns and target shooting, and collecting belt buckles and cigarette lighters.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Janet (Francisco) Hancock of Norwalk; sons, Brian (Chris) Hancock of Mesa, Arizona, Kevin (Shawna) Hancock of Norwalk, and Travis (Kaylyne) Hancock of Norwalk; grandchildren, Storm, Dylan, Deric, and Lilly Hancock, and Ryan Barrett; and great granddaughters, Ellie and Paisley Barrett.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his cousins, Dennis and Michael Moore.

Visitation for Jim will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, from 10 a.m. until the time of the 12 p.m. (noon) funeral service, also at the funeral home, followed by burial in Meadow Green Cemetery in Huron on Bogart Rd.
