James McClellan Henry, Jr., of Wellington, passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 74. A son of the late Erma D. (nee Shamley) and James McClellan Henry, Sr., he was born in Zanesville on February 29, 1952.
James grew up in Lakewood and graduated from Lakewood High School. He joined the United States Army at age 17 and was proud to have served his country for two years. As an adult, James lived in Elyria and worked at General Motors until the plant closed. Following that, James worked at Hutman & Sons Remodeling and Knickerbocker Apartments in Bay Village. He loved golf and found great enjoyment flower gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Barbara Ward Henry; daughter, April Pondage, of Caldwell; stepson, Bertram Wyman, of Wellington; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. One of nine siblings, James is also survived by his sisters, Pamela Slimak, of Medina, Brenda Mave, of Cleveland, Patty Wood, of Louisville, KY, Sandra Sagneri, of Atlanta, Georgia, Theresa Muenks, of Cincinnati, and Cynthia Henry, of Lakewood; and brothers, Jay Henry and Mike Henry, both of Cleveland.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 4 pm until 7 pm at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Expressions of sympathy may be given at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
