James M. Hofacker

James M Hofacker, age 67, of Monroeville, OH passed away on Sept 15, 2026, surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness.

He was born on October 7, 1958, to the late John and Therese (Kocher) Hofacker. Jim graduated from St. Paul High School, Norwalk, OH in 1976.

He was self-employed as a representative of JB Fleet Industrial supply for the majority of his career, and most recently the Director of Maintenance for Camp Lake Erie.

He always took the time to enjoy the things he loved. As a "jack of all trades" Jim was a man of integrity, honesty and generosity. Jim loved his family, adored his wife and was an all-around great guy, and friend. He enjoyed gambling, was a lifelong fan of all high school, college and professional sports. But he did not care for that team up north.

Opa was a die-hard advocate and supporter of all of his grandchildren.

He was a member of the Norwalk, Sandusky, Willard, and New London Bowling Associations as well as the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sarah (Hindle) Hofacker, their children, John Lewis (Valentina) Hofacker of New London, and Amy (Matthew) Smiley of Monroeville: their grandchildren, Takylah Distel, Ethan Smiley, James Hofacker, and Alexander Hofacker; siblings, Linda (John) Bell, Julie (Kevin) Leibold, and Sharon (Dave) Hurley; as well as several nieces and nephews, many cousins, in-laws, and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Therese Hofacker

In keeping with Jim's wishes he is being cremated with a party being planned for a later date. Also, in keeping with Jim's wishes and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be deposited into a machine or at table of your choice at any local casino!
