James Hunt, 88, of Wellington, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 27, 2015. On January 15, 1927, James was born to the late Charles T. and Lula (nee Deniston) Hunt in Lick Creek, KY. He enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and served aboard the USS John Land. James retired from General Motors Fisher Body Plant after 30 plus years. James was a Deacon and active member of Christ Community Church in Wellington. Always thinking of others, he was a faithful blood donor for many years. He greatly enjoyed being outside and many of his favorite hobbies happened outdoors including fishing, target shooting at the range, golfing, taking walks and tending his flower and vegetable gardens. James also liked bowling and his morning breakfasts in town. Survivors include his daughters, Sandra (Mike) Adams, Judith Rhonda (Steve) O'Neal, and Janet (Alan) Smith, all of Wellington; grandchildren, Beverly Stephens, Michelle Orsik, Matthew Adams, Jeffrey Adams, Christopher Adams Russ Maze, Jason Maze, Jessica Sousa, Terry Goble Jr., Brandy Meyer, Brook White, Veronica "Roni" Jacobs, Audrey Diller, James Goble, and Emily Kirsch; 29 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dorothy; great grandson, Gage Meyer; brothers, Clarence, Lawrence, Carl and Delmo Hunt and sister, Ertha Abshire. Visitation will be Sunday, August 30 from 2-5 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary West officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with military rites.
