James B. "Jim" Finley passed on from this life to the next on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was 55. Born on April 5, 1962 in Elyria he was a lifelong resident of New London. Jim graduated from New London High School, and had attended Bowling Green State University. Jim was a kind soul and all around good guy. He was blessed with a wonderfully witty sense of humor. He was also a talented singer and writer for several local newspapers. Jim was a "man of unshakeable faith". He was a longtime member of the New London United Methodist Church. He was a devoted brother and loving son. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Sholes; brothers, Dan (Laura) Finley and Dave (Linda) Finley; nephews, Logan, Evan and Cameron; stepbrother, Jim Sholes; niece, Madalyn and nephew, Travis. Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Finley; stepfather, Bob Sholes and his grandparents. Friends may call from 9 am until the 11 am service Saturday, October 7, 2017 at New London United Methodist Church, 58 East Main Street, New London.
