James "Jim" L. Ackerman, 81, of Norwalk, and residing in Ocala, FL, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at AdventHealth in Ocala, FL.

Jim was born on October 12, 1941, in Norwalk, to the late Leon and Cecilia (Durnwald) Ackerman. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Jim was a dedicated employee as a lab supervisor for 46 years at M.A. Hanna (formerly PMS Consolidated). He was a member of the American Legion and St. Paul Catholic Church. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed fishing and refinishing furniture. He was a hard worker, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jan (Miller) Ackerman, who he married on July 12, 1968; children, Tony (Shawna) Ackerman of Norwalk, Wanda Ackerman of Norwalk, David (Melanie) Ackerman of Norwalk, and Heather (Ryan) Fleming of Florida; grandchildren, Morgan (Collin) Smith, Brittany (Brendan) Haig, Grant Ackerman, Parker (Hunter) Fleming, and brother, Terry Ackerman of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Lazzaro, and siblings, Robert Ackerman, Jerry Ackerman, and Phyllis Lester.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. The burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Norwalk.
