James F. LaConte, 90, of Norwalk, Ohio, died on Monday, November 30, 2020. He was born on August 10, 1930 to the late Joseph and Agatha LaConte.
After graduating from St. Paul High School in 1948, James began his career at Norwalk Furniture where he spent 41 years until his retirement in 1991. From 1951-1955, James served in the United Navy in the Korean War. James was a life member of the Nowalk VFW Post 2743 and the Norwalk Eagles #711.
In his retirement, James enjoyed taking trips with his wife, Laurentina, especially to Las Vegas, Arizona, Rode Island, Massachusetts, and Florida to visit family. He enjoyed bowling, and they bowled in many leagues, including leagues in Las Vegas, New York, and anywhere else they could find an alley to bowl at. James also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Steven (Kathleen) LaConte, of Norwalk, Ohio, and Michael (Judith) LaConte, of Wakeman, Ohio; siblings, Josephine Haar, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Maryann Knoll, of Sandusky, Ohio; and granddaughter, Stephanie LaConte.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his siblings, Carl LaConte, Genevieve Spade, and Helen LaConte.
Family will receive guests at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857 on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 9:00am to 10:00am. The service will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857 on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 10:30am, with a graveside service to follow. Masks will be required to be worn while in the funeral home and the church. The funeral home has a maximum capacity, so visitors should be prepared to wait outside.
