Norwalk, Ohio - James G. Meisler, Sr., 96, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Wednesday evening, May 11, 2016 in the Norwalk Memorial Home. He was born January 11, 1920 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Otto H. and Mary O. (Holland) Meisler.
Jim worked at Norwalk Furniture before going into the U.S. Army on December 2, 1942. He service at Fort Miles, Delaware, in the Coast Artillery, and at Fort Bragg, North Carolina in the Field Artillery before serving in Europe during W.W. II. Jim returned home in 1945 and worked for the Wheeling & Lake Erie, Nickel Plate, and Norfolk & Western Railroads.
Jim married Mary Emma Bell in 1944 in Smyrna, Delaware, who survives him. They had four children, Susan Carol Meisler, who preceded Jim in death, James G. Meisler, Jr., Richard E. Meisler, and Kirstine (Krupp) Meisler, by 5 grandchildren, Mathew M. Meisler, Corrie J. (Olcott) Meisler Amanda L. (Pirrone) Meisler, Mike Meisler, and Mark Meisler, and by 6 great grandchildren, Luke and Sydney Meisler, Chloe, Parker, who preceded him in death, Camryn, Coryn, and Deklyn Olcott. He was a member of Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion, and was Past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge #730.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Bogart Road, Huron, Ohio. Rev. Dr. Brian Oglesbee will officiate.
