James Richard Oney, II. of New London, passed away at his home on Monday, January 25, 2016, after being diagnosed August 2014 with cancer. He was 41. He was born on August 29, 1974 in Ashland. James graduated with the New London High School Class of 1992. He was a track inspector for 10 years, with CSX and previously worked 11 years for Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway. His passions included fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends. James was a very generous and kind person to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. James married Christine A. (Bement) Oney 17 years ago, and together they had 3 children, Emily, Hannah and Charlie Oney. He is also survived by parents, Jim and Juanita Oney of New London; sisters, Collette (Bill) Kropka and DeeAnna (Steve) McManus both of New London; nephews, Casey, Cole, Blaine, Trent, Jonathon, Spencer and Sawyer and a niece, Caileigh. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Virginia Crawford, and John and Ella Oney. A memorial service in James' honor will be held at New London Alliance Church in New London on Saturday, February 13th at 1 pm with Pastor Doug Lang officiating.
