James Querin, 89, of Wellington died at his home Monday, February 2, 2009 after a short illness. He was born in Spencer.
James (Jim) Querin was a master carpenter and served his country in World War II, rising to the rank of infantry captain. Upon returning from World War II, Jim and his wife, Jan, began a housing rental business, now known as Querin Incorporated. As former Wellington village supervisor, Jim used his interest in outdoor beautification to develop the brick sidewalks and plantings around the village hall grounds. He was most proud of introducing the United States flags into the streetscape of the village.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jan; his parents, William A. and Gladys McRoberts Querin; and his brothers, Fred and Robert Querin. He is survived by sons, Lawrence (Janice) of Wellington and Mark (Kay) of Casper, Wyoming; three granddaughters; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, including Warren Brinker of Spencer and Charles Brinker of Wellington.
No services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Herrick Memorial Library, 101 Willard Square, Wellington, OH 44090.
