James W. Shepherd, age 69, of Greenwich, died Thursday evening, January 3, 2008 at MedCentral Hospital, Mansfield after a short illness. He was born October 21, 1938 in Willard, Ohio, son of the late Chester and Bessie Shepherd. Mr. Shepherd had been a lifelong resident of Greenwich. He was a 1957 graduate of Greenwich High School. He had served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He had worked at the G.M. Plant in Mansfield for 33 years having retired in 1993. Mr. Shepherd enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, of 47 years, Julia (McGriff) Shepherd; 2 sons, Scott (Robin) Shepherd of Greenwich, Greg (Shari) Shepherd of Mansfield; a daughter, Sonia (Jeff) Oney of Greenwich; 8 grandchildren, Cole, Brent, Kurt, Cameron, Megan, Christian Shepherd, Payton and Cortney Oney; 4 sisters, Joanne Wise and friend Bob Mclane, Sue Music, Sandy (Albert) Conaway all of Greenwich, Wilda (Dennis) Stumbo of Shiloh; 4 brothers, David (Imogene) Shepherd of Greenwich, Jerry Shepherd & friend Eva of Greenwich, Gene (Kathie) Shepherd of New London, Tim (Kathy) Shepherd of Greenwich He was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Uland. Friends may call from 3 ' 6 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2008 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 7 at the First Baptist Church, 96 Townsend St., Greenwich, with Pastor Bob Hudberg officiating.
