Obituary

James A. Shipley, 63, of Nova, died at the Good Shepherd Home in Ashland on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. He was born July 1, 1948, in Pennsylvania. James resided in Nova for the past 3 years and lived over 30 years in Wellington. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was a member of the V.F.W. James was also a member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Wellington and the Iron Worker's Local 17 of Cleveland. James loved spending his time hunting and was a lifelong deer hunter. Survivors include his wife, Genive (Hamilton) Shipley; children, Randy Hunter of Wellington, Jimmie Stafford of Cleveland and Lesa Hunter of Mansfield; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Robert Torrence of New Freeport, PA and sister, Myrtle McIntosh of Salmon, ID. Preceded in death by his mother, Alma Jean Torrence and grandfather, Harry Shipley. Visitation will be held at the Free Will Baptist Church, 205 Woodland Street, Wellington on Thursday, January 26 from 6-8 p.m. and funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Eddie Kennedy, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Nova Cemetery with military rites.
