James Columbus Slater II, 51, of Lorain, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at his home. On August 7, 1972, James was born to parents James J. and Myrtle "Pennie" (nee Cassity) Slater. He grew up in the Huntington area and was a 1990 graduate of Black River High School.
James worked at Invacare as a Plant Manager for many years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Lorain Post 30.
James enjoyed guns, hunting and fishing. Traveling was one of his favorite pastimes. James also had a secret artistic talent that he didn't share with many people.
James is survived by his sister, Brandy Miller and nephews, Nolan, Brodan and Waylan Miller. James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Pennie; his brother, Matthew Slater; fiancée, Faith Kuhn; and brother-in-law, Matthew Miller.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 7 from 3 pm until 6 pm at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington where funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Huntington Township Cemetery.
