James Barton Talbott, Sr., age 82, of New London, died on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Gaymont Nursing Home in Norwalk surrounded by his loving family. Born August 20, 1942 in Troy, West Virginia he was the son of John and Nellie Virginia Hope (Barton) Talbott. James grew up in Weston, West Virginia and later moved to Ohio. He worked as a roofing applicator for North Ohio Roofing and was later self-employed as an exterminator for about ten years.

A member of Fitchville United Methodist Church, James was strong in his faith. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all, James was a family man and cherished time spent with his wife, children, and large extended family.

Survivors include James's beloved wife, Karen Ann (Cutright), whom he wed on April 22, 1961, in Buckhannon, West Virginia; children, James Jr. (Jessica) Talbott, Michael (Cindi) Talbott, Dianna (Greg) Mullins, and Debbie (James) Cress; grandchildren, Christopher (Bethany) Jarrett, Dylan (Maddie) Mullins, Jacqulyn (Tyler) Kane, Jessica Talbott, Zachary (Macie Westrick) Talbott, Jackson Talbott, Courtney (Sam LeMaster) Cress, Corey (Makenah Rohr) Cress, and Nash Talbott; great-grandchildren, Mason, Callahan Sue, Olive, Jameson, and Charlotte; a sister-in-law, Sheila Davis; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie Talbott; a brother, Lonnie Talbott; and a sister, Betty Jo Hoagland.

Per James's wishes, there will be no services held at this time. Eastman Funeral Home of New London is honored to assist the family with their arrangements.
