James D. Voik, 60, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019, in his home, surrounded by his family.  He was born March 4, 1959 to his late parents, Marie T. (Gibbons) McKernan and William Voik in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to the Norwalk area in 2000.

James attended Normandy High School in Parma, Ohio and proudly served his country in the Navy from 1978 to 1982.  He was a self- employed truck-driver for JCJ Transportation, which he started in 2000.  He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2743, Norwalk, Ohio, and the Norwalk American Legion, Ken Burr Bell, Post 41, Norwalk, Ohio.  James enjoyed fast cars, including his 1967 Barracuda, named the "Red Light Bandit", riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, gathering with friends, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Christine M. "Gurty" Voik of Norwalk, Ohio, by his son Josh J. (Sonia) Voik of Wakeman, Ohio, by his grandson, Conway J. Voik, by is mother-in-law, Judy A. Houpt, of Norwalk, Ohio, by his father-in-law, Jay E Houpt of Somerset, Pennsylvania, by his brothers in law Mark E. (Michelle) Houpt and Robert J. "Boz" Houpt, both of Cleveland, Ohio.  He is also survived by his stepfather Thomas McKernan of Knoxville, Tennessee, and by several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of James's life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a service at 2:00 p.m. at his son's home at 4854 State Route 60, Wakeman, Ohio 44889.  Father Ronald Schock will officiate, and military honors will follow.  Online condolences may be expressed by going to www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com.
