Obituary

James L. Wolf, 90, of New London died unexpectedly Friday, June 18, 2010 at Fisher Titus Medical Center. Born on May 21, 1920 in Belden to the late Earl and Laura Wolf, James graduated from New London High School in 1940. He was stationed in the Pacific while proudly serving in the Army Air Corp during WWII, going through Navigator school to become a 2nd Lieutenant. James worked at Armco in Wellington and KY for 30 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New London, Wellington VFW 6941, where he served as past commander, New London American Legion 292, the Military Order of the Cootie, and was former county council commander for the Lorain County VFW. James loved gardening and created beautiful woodworking. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Elaine; children, Jim Wolf of New London and Carol Wolf of Chesapeake; brother, Herbert Wolf of Amherst, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jane, Eva, Winona, Agnes, Bertha and Ernie. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes, 18 Park Ave., New London with Rev. James Reymann officiating followed by military rites. A private burial will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Heart Association, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
