Janice Elaine Simon, 80, of Norwalk passed away peacefully on February 26, 2019 at Norwalk Memorial Home. She was born on September 23, 1938 in Richmond, Maine to the late Albion "Bud" and Frances (nee Billings) Shaw. Jan graduated from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis before moving to Norwalk with her husband Norb, where she spent the majority of her life. Jan and Norb were married 62 years. Together, they owned and operated Norb's Marathon and later Norb's Service. In addition to family business, Jan had worked at Nobils Shoe Store, INS Trucking (in Indiana) and as an LPN at Norwalk Clinic. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, playing cards and gambling, traveling, and cherished spending time with family and friends. Jan was a member of St Paul Catholic Church and former President of the St Paul Athletic Boosters. Norb and Jan were active and instrumental in some of the very first Strawberry Festivals and had helped with the beer booth as well. She is survived by her husband Norb Simon; their children, Harold (Laura) Simon of Norwalk, Nancy (Jack) Ratliff of North Fairfield and Monica (Kevin) McDonald of Norwalk; siblings, David (Brenda) Shaw of Clayton, IN, Mary Patterson of Greenwood, IN, Wayne (Janet) Shaw of Martinsville, IN and Betty Jennison of Shirley, ME; grandchildren, Preston (Crystal) Ratliff, Jennifer (Brandon) Whyde, Katie Bundschuh, Matt (Lyndsey) McDonald and Betsy (Eric) Dinkins; great grandchildren, Brody Whyde, Kali Bundschuh, Aaden and Austin McDonald and Aubrey Dinkins and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her grandson, Seth Ratliff and brother in-laws George Jennison and Jay Patterson. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 3rd from 2 pm - 6 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W Main St, Norwalk. A mass will be held at St Paul Catholic Church, 91 E Main St, on Monday, March 4th at 10:30 am with Fr. Andrew Wellman officiating. Burial will follow in St Paul Catholic Cemetery.
