Jasper R. Bates passed away peacefully at the age of 82, on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Sandusky. He was born on August 12, 1935 in Hartselle, Alabama, son of the late John and Ethel (Lancaster) Bates. Jasper was an avid golfer, a great dad, grandfather and friend, who was always there for his family. He loved to watch sports and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Jasper is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann; his children, Ken (Sherry E.) Bates, Sherry A. (Mike) Stockley and Elisha (Randy) Blake; 10 grandchildren and 4 siblings. In addition to his parents, Jasper was preceded in death by his son, Joey, 7 siblings, and 2 grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 12-2 pm with a service occurring at 1 pm at Eastman Funeral Home in New London.
