Obituary

Jay Shepherd, age 61, of Wellington died unexpectedly Sunday, September 23 at Allen Medical Center in Oberlin. Mr. Shepherd was born May 27, 1946 in Ashtabula. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1964 and then received a Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in 1968. Mr. Shepherd was involved with the ROTC program while at Bowling Green. He was later promoted to 1st Lieutenant and served in Vietnam. He was awarded a bronze star for his service. He worked at his family's business, Shepherd Chevrolet -Oldsmobile, until the mid- 1980s. He had been employed at Forrest City Technologies for over two decades, working as the Head of Customer Service and most recently as a Technology Specialist. Mr. Shepherd was an avid photographer and he loved his Harley motorcycle. He also enjoyed computers and history. He was a seasonal resident at Clare-Mar Lakes and he loved animals and nature. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Judy; his son, Patrick Shepherd and his partner, Jason Lansdale, of Cleveland; and his mother, Allene Shepherd of Wellington. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Shepherd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Well-Help Inc, 127 Park Place, Wellington, OH 44090 or to the Cleveland Foodbank, 15500 South Waterloo Rd., Cleveland, OH 44110. A private family service is being planned. A public memorial service will follow at a later date.
