Jeanice McKenzie Johnson, 81, of Wellington, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013. On April 10, 1931, Jeanice was born to the late Arthur and Rose (nee Gardner) Richmond. She graduated in 1949 from Wellington High School.
Jeanice was a longtime member of the Wellington Eagles Arie 2051, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 8 and the Pythian Sisters and Liberty Bell 464 in Spencer. She liked travel. Jeanice enjoyed being around people and volunteered her time to help others.
Survivors include her sons, Gary (Sharon) McKenzie, of Wellington and David McKenzie, of Las Vegas, NV; 3 grandchildren, Brandi Hatfield, Catherine Selzer, both of Wellington and Adriane McKenzie, of NC and 3 great grandchildren, Tyler Hatfield, Mikailah Godsey and Leighla Selzer. Jeanice is also survived by her sister, Beverly (Edward) Bughman, of Wellington. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lyle "Bill" McKenzie and James Edward "Jim" Johnson.
Friends and family will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, January 28 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
