Jeffrey David Brooks, 25, of Wellington, lost his battle with a short illness on December 14, 2013. He was a 2006 graduate of Firelands High School and Lorain County JVS and a 2008 graduate of the University of Northwestern Ohio. A mechanic by trade, Jeffrey loved racing and working on his race car. He dreamed of stock car racing. Jeffrey also enjoyed helping others and spending time with friends and family, especially playing with his nieces and nephews. He was at one time a part of the Boy Scout troop 318. Jeffrey is survived by his girlfriend, Kayla Ellis of Wellington; mother, Christen (nee Bartlebaugh) Gunder; his dad, Gaylord Gunder of Wellington; his father, Joseph Brooks I of Lorain; brothers Joseph (Tanya) Brooks II of Wakeman and Gaylord Gunder II of Shelby; sisters, Lauren Brooks of Lorain and Meghan Gunder of Lorain; nieces and nephews, Kenedee and Joseph Brooks III, Danielle, Landon and Trinity Gunder, Jaylund and Antonio Ellis; uncles, James (Holly) of Mentor, Daniel Brooks of Kentucky, Bryan (Jen) Bartlebaugh of Vermilion, David (Lisa) Bartlebaugh of Vermilion, Ronald Snyder, and Jerry (Theresa) Snyder II, James Bartlebaugh of Cleveland, Keith Bartlebaugh of Georgia; aunts, Jamie Millet of Georgia, Dawn Bartlebaugh of Lorain, Georgia Roysdon of Elyria, Cathy (Steve) Perry, Elna (Thomas) Barnett; maternal grandmother, Deloris (Jerry) Snyder, and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Bartlebaugh; paternal grandparents, Joyce and James Brooks; and paternal grandparents, Crystal and Richard Gunder. Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington.
