Jeffrey Arthur Garn, known as 'Gonzo' to friends, 42, died unexpectedly Sunday, October 24, 2010 from injuries sustained in an accident. Born in Oberlin on October 21, 1968 to Raymond and Vickie (nee Dumke) Garn, Jeff was a longtime Wellington resident who graduated with the Wellington High School Class of 1987. Following high school graduation, he attended DeVry University and Lorain County Community College.
A true entrepreneur, Jeff founded Jaggar Computing in 1999, which turned into NCWCom in 2001. Along with his business partner, Matt Fridenstine, Jeff devoted his time and energy to his clients, always finding a solution for their computer needs, and opened the door for high speed internet in the Wellington and surrounding areas. He provided wireless internet and video surveillance to the Lorain County Fair for the past several years. Jeff's passion for computers extended far past his business ventures, he had a fantastic memory for all things computer and had a huge knowledge base on the subject ' almost as if he was a walking 'google.' Jeff also was co-owner of Freedom Estates and spent his time purchasing rental properties and fixer-uppers with his partner, Duane Bremke.
Well liked by everyone, Jeff had a great sense of humor and a smile that could light up a room; he was a beloved best friend to many. He sponsored several softball teams as part of his commitment to the Wellington community as a business owner. He was a member of both the Spencer Baptist Church and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wellington. His hobbies included flying remote control planes and spending time with his daughters, who fondly called him 'Jeffe.' He loved snowmobiling and especially enjoyed snowmobile trips to Michigan and Pennsylvania with family.
Survivors include his childhood sweetheart, whom he dated for 10 years and was married to for 19 years, Teresa (nee Davidson); Daughters, Jacqueline Garn, 18 and Nicole 'Teresa' Garn, 15; Father, Raymond Garn of Wellington; Brothers, Randy (Darlene) Garn and Scott (Peggy) Garn, all of Wellington; Grandparents, Arthur and Jill Dumke and Marcella Garn and many nieces and nephews. Jeff is now at peace with his mother, Vickie Garn and his Grandfather, Ross Garn.
Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Friends may also call on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 512 N. Main St., Wellington with Father James Reymann officiating.
