Jessie L. Carrick, age 92, of Medina and formerly of Nova, died July 3, 2014 at Western Reserve Masonic Community, Medina. She was born August 26, 1921, in Nova, Ohio, daughter of the late Clayton and Rena (Landon) Biddinger. She lived most of her life in Elyria and Amherst. Jessie was a 1939 graduate of Nova High School. She had been a bookkeeper for Travel Mart in Elyria for many years. She was also a former clerk at Sears in Elyria. Jessie was a member of the Eastern Star Stone City Chapter, Amherst for over 50 years. She was a charter member of the Community United Methodist Church in Elyria where she had sung in the choir. She also belonged to the Amherst Community Choir. Jessie enjoyed music. She played the trombone in high school, and also played the piano and organ. Jessie took great joy in her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Dale (Kathryn) Carrick of Vermilion and her daughter in law, Mary Carrick of Pensacola, Florida; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 nieces and nephews; 6 great nieces and nephews; 10 great-great nieces and nephews; 3 great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Howard Carrick; son, David Carrick; sister, Laverne Snyder; brother, LaRue Biddinger and infant sister, Evelyn. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London where an Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Don Lare of the Community United Methodist Church, Elyria and Pastor Nick Cacciatore of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church officiating. Burial will follow at Nova Cemetery.
