Jillian Rae Whitten, 17, of New London, passed away on June 14, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. Born in Elyria on June 23, 2005, Jillian was the daughter of Meagan and Eric Whitten. She attended Black River High School and was recently awarded an honorary diploma.
The definition of a social butterfly, Jillian was very joyful and always happy. She loved swimming and riding her bike. She also participated in Special Olympics and American Made 4-H Club. During school, she worked as an office aide and thoroughly enjoyed her job.
In addition to her parents, Meagan and Eric, Jillian is survived by her siblings, Kielee, Payten, Brooke and Carter Whitten. She is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Frank (Cheryl) Kuriger and Melissa (Denny) Mathes; paternal grandfather, Kenneth Whitten; and paternal great grandparents, Joe (Lucille) Whitten. Jillian was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Joanne Whitten.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19th from 4-8 p.m. at the New London Alliance Church, 4625 OH-162, New London, where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 20th at noon with Pastor Doug Lang officiating.
