Joan May Curtis (née Preston), 86, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at Concord Reserve.

Joan was born in Wellington, Ohio, to the late Lyle and Beatrice (née Devereaux) Preston. She is lovingly remembered by her children, David Curtis, the late Linda Curtis-Wooten, and Robin (Greg) Lucak; her grandchildren, Michelle (Alex), Molly (Devin), Megan (Alexandra), Haley, and Nicholas; and her great-grandchildren, Colby, Riley, and Emma.

A 1958 graduate of Penfield High School, Joan went on to build a fulfilling career and retire from the Florida Department of Transportation, where she worked as an admin for many years overseeing bridges across northern Florida. Among her most favorite was the Lawrence River Bridge. After living in Florida for thirty years, Joan returned to Ohio in 2017 to be with her family.

Joan was proudly a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Marine Corps League Auxiliary, and gave generously of her time through volunteer work in both Grafton, Ohio, and Lake City, Florida. She especially loved attending The Cleveland Orchestra, camping, reading, and above all, spending time with her family and friends, creating lasting memories together.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington, OH 44090 (Tel: 1-440-647-3132) from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. (noon). The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. (noon) at the funeral home with burial to follow at the family’s Jackson Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Joan’s honor will be directed to Concord Reserve, 2116 Dover Center Road, Westlake, OH 44145, with special designation to support her friends in Long Term Care as they continue to enjoy outings, including lunches and visits to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Cleveland Science Center — Joan’s favorite place.
