Joan W. Hawley, age 81, of Sandusky and formerly of Attica, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky. She was born November 6, 1930 in Kipton, Ohio, youngest of 14 children to the late Albert S. and Emma L (Johns) Hanes. She graduated from Nova High School in 1948 and received a business degree from Oberli n Business College in the early 1950's. Joan worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Willard as a supervisor. She was an EMT in Attica for over 20 years. Joan was a member of the Nova United Methodist Church, the Attica American Legion Auxiliary and VFW in Middletown. She loved to crochet. Joan enjoyed spending time with her friends and her second family at McDonald's in Willard. She is survived by her children, Lawrence Warren, Frank Hawley, Cheryl Painter, Vance Hawley and Suzanne Sumerau; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and a sister, Maurita Lauer. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Raymond Warren and Arthur V. Hawley, Jr., her brothers, Allen, Howard, Gerald, Orren and Robert; her sisters, Gladys, Marian, Marjorie, Irene, Helen, Laurice and Leila. Visitation will be held Monday, June 25th from 2 ' 4 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Brother Harry Finkbone officiating. Burial will follow at Nova Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
