(Lorcher) Camp
April 11, 1935 – December 23, 2019
Joan Margaret Camp, 84, passed away at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio, December 23, 2019, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with family by her side.
Joan was born on April 11, 1935 in Milan, Ohio to the late Herman and Edna (Green) Lorcher. Her family moved to Norwalk when she was a young girl. She attended Norwalk City Schools and graduated in 1953. She remained a lifelong resident of Norwalk and was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. She was a founding member of the annual parish festival. Joan was employed as a clerk at Norwalk Truck Line, as an operator at General Telephone, and as a library assistant at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School. She also volunteered at the American Red Cross for over 25 years and held the office of secretary at the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for 30 years.
Joan enjoyed playing Euchre with family and friends and trying her luck on the slot machines. She also enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite vacation spots included Hawaii, Arizona, Florida, Las Vegas, Branson and Myrtle Beach. Joan was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Joan's most treasured times were spent with her family. She loved large gatherings and hosted many family parties at her home.
Joan is survived by her sons, Dean (Lynn) Camp and Bryan (Gina) Camp; siblings, Herman Lorcher, Janet (Herb) Knapp, John (Donna) Lorcher, William (Fran) Grose, and Michael (Christine) Grose; brother-in-laws, Carl (Linda) Camp and Leon (Janice) Camp; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Clarence "Chick" Camp; sister, Fay Thiery, and brothers, Robert and Dean Wobser.
Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2019 from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk with Msgr. Ken Morman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions if desired may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or the American Cancer Society, P.O.
