M. Joan McKinley, 83, of Ashland, died Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Crystal Care Center in Ashland. Born on June 15, 1938, in Ruggles, she was the daughter of the late Elden and Mary (nee Briggs) Clouser. Joan grew up and spent most of her life in the Ruggles-Troy area and was a 1956 graduate of Ruggles-Troy High School.

Joan was employed at Philway, Hess and Clark, and Dr. Donald G. Ward Chiropractic. She was a long time member of the Nankin Community Church where she enjoyed volunteering and served as the financial secretary for 26 years. Joan was also a member of OGS Ashland chapter, the Clear Creek Genealogical Society, and the Ashland Senior Citizen Center, where she helped with the newsletter and taking money at their swiss steak suppers. She also volunteered as a 4-H leader for a number of years. Joan was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, making doilies and snowflakes for numerous people. She also enjoyed word search puzzles, tending her flowers and making arrangements for church.

Survivors include her daughters Jennifer McKinley and Virginia McKinley, both of Ashland; granddaughter, Emily (Kyle) Grimm, also of Ashland; brother, William (Linda) Clouser; sister-in-law, Marlene McKinley Newlon; brother-in-law, Perry McKinley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Clayton McKinley, brother, Charles; brother-in-laws, Kenneth McKinley and Gene Robinson; and sisters-in-laws, Elaine Clouser, Christine McKinley and Ruth McKinley Robinson.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, February 27, from 2 – 5 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St, New London. Services will be held on Monday, at the Nankin Community Church, 795 State Rt 302, Ashland, beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Jennifer Whitmore will officiate and burial will follow at Ruggles Cemetery.
