Joan Harriet Whitney, 90, of Wellington, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019, at home surrounded by her family. Born on November 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (nee Shipman) Norton. Joan was a lifelong resident of Wellington and a graduate of Wellington High School.

Joan was a former member of the Jr. Womens League, and in her younger years had been a member of various bowling leagues. She enjoyed going to play BINGO. Joan also enjoyed trips to the cottage on the lake. Most of all she cherished her family and time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Rich (Lori) Whitney, of Amherst, Skip (Cynthia) Whitney, of Wellington, Bruce (Diana) Whitney, of Texas, and Todd Whitney, of Amherst; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and her brother Harold Norton. Joan was preceded by her loving husband of 57 years, Donald Whitney; and siblings Robert Norton, Dorothy Louise Sutliff, William Norton, Dan Norton, and Peggy Reed.

A private family graveside service will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be directed to New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Rd, Lorain, 44053.
