Joanne Louise Farr, 85, of Wellington, died Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain. Born on March 7, 1938 in Lorain, she was the daughter of the late George Joseph and Georgene Louise (nee Craft) Foisy. Joanne graduated from St. Mary's High School in Lorain and relocated to Wellington in 1974.
Joanne worked for the Wellington Enterprise for many years and then for the Lorain County JVS and retired from Education Service Center of Lorain County. She was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Parish as well as the Wellington Eagles Arie 2051 and worked as an election poll worker for many years. Joanne was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following all the Cleveland teams and the Iowa Hawkeyes as well. She had a special place in her heart for the Wellington Dukes and enjoyed attending basketball games and loved to watch her grandchildren at their sporting events and extracurricular activities.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Kaytie Hill) Farr, of Iowa; Jeanne (Dan) Rosecrans, of Wellington and Kurt (Tricia) Farr, of Wellington; grandchildren, Brandon, Miranda, Megann, Rianna, Mitchell, Weston (Juliana Hicks), and Trinity and great granddaughter, Haiden. Joanne is also survived by her brothers, Ken (Mary Lou) Foisy, of Vermilion, and Gerry (Jeanne) Foisy, of CA; sisters-in-law, Teri Foisy, Donna Foisy, and Becky Farr, and brother-in-law, Don Wittmer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joanne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Dwight Farr in 2004; grandson, Garrett Farr; siblings, Tom (Linda), John, Marian (Bob), David, Helen, Ray, and Bob; brother-in-law, Roger Farr; and sister-in-law, Marsha (Rex) Griffin.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, January 25, from 4-7 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St, Wellington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 512 N. Main St., Wellington, on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
