Johanna Larine Gott, 92 of Wellington, passed away September 14, 2013 at her home after a short illness. She was born February 9, 1921 in Raymond, Minnesota, but moved in her early childhood with her family to Oberlin, Ohio. After graduation from Oberlin High School, she married the love of her life, LaMar Gott. The two began their lives together working side by side on various rental farms in the Wellington area. They eventually moved to the 125-acre Gott Family Farm south of Oberlin where they continued to work and raise their 6 children. Johanna was extremely proud of her family; each and every one meant the world to her. She loved celebrating birthdays, graduations, weddings and reunions with special family parties. Christmas had special meaning to her and she started and maintained the long-standing family tradition of Christmas dinner at her home. She was always very involved with her children and grandchildren's education and took an active role in their interests outside school as well - such as music, 4-H and sports. She too loved all types of music and spent many weekends going out with her husband and friends ballroom dancing to Big Band music. Johanna's cooking skills were unsurpassed and she was famous for her delicious, homemade pies. She collected cranberry glass and had a keen interest in fashion and interior decorating. She will be forever remembered for her kindness and compassion, which she shared not only with family and friends, but with everyone she met along the way in life.
A devoted Mom, "Gram" and Great-Grandma, Johanna is survived by her 6 children: Ned (Dianne) Gott of Oberlin, Allan (Doris) Gott of Fort Collins, Colorado, Rita (Chuck) Dewey of Cape Coral, Florida, Gary (Nadine) Gott of Wellington, Tharon (Lynda) Gott of Oberlin and Marla (Gordy) Lent of Wellington; her 15 grandchildren: Krista (Bryce) Brown, Nedra (Paul) Baetz, Thad (Beth) Gott, Denise (Jack) Miller, Brian (Julie) Gott, Keri (Alan) Pitts, Jill (Rich) Hyde, Jon (Joan) Gott, Kevin (Debbie) Gott, Julie Long, Jeff (Lisa) Gott, Denise Gott, Mark Gott, Shawn Willbond and Ryan Lent; her 24 great-grandchildren , her sister Lorene(Donald) Jacopin of Lorain and her life-long best friend, Dorothy Walker of Wellington.
