John R. Bernard, age 68, died at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital on Monday, May 9, 2016. Born December 6, 1947 in Willard, to John E. and Eileen (Whitmore) Bernard, he graduated from South Central High School in 1967. John served in the Navy during Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. He was a lifelong resident of the Willard area. John operated John Bernard Construction and later worked as an electrician for Janotta and Herner in Monroeville and Lakeview Electric. John was a member of the VFW. Survivors include his children, Matt (Teresa) Bernard of Willard, Mark (Karen) Bernard of Collins, Amanda (Ollie) Griffch of Norwalk and Pamela Bernard of Norwalk; 8 grandchildren and siblings, Marie (Donald) Plank, Judith (Bill) Suddith, Linda (Frank) Ousley and Marlene "Buck" Bernard. John was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents and sister, Tonya Bernard. Relatives and friends are welcome at Eastman Funeral Home in Greenwich from 1 pm until the 2 pm service Friday, May 13, 2016 with Pastor Jeff Coggins officiating.
