John Bodnarik, 93, of Wellington, died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Keystone Point Health and Rehabilitation in LaGrange following a short illness. Born in Cleveland on January 18, 1917 to the late Joseph and Mary (nee Sipula) Bodnarik, John grew up in Garfield Heights. John lived in Cleveland for many years before moving to Wellington in 1972. During WWII, John had the important task of supervising the war efforts of Ohio Crankshaft as they produced parts for military vehicles. In the mid 1930's, John worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp. He also worked as a supervisor at Cleveland Steel Products and then Rockwell Industries in Wellington until his retirement in 1981. John was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Wellington and served as the President of the Wellington Senior Citizens Club. He dabbled in pottery, painting, cooking and candy making. John learned to play the keyboard during his retirement and loved playing for many Senior Citizen events. Survivors include his 3 daughters, Mary (Del) Christofferson of Brook Park, Marie Florek of Charlotte, NC, Pamela Kolecki of Avon; 7 sons, Tim (Chelsea) Bodnarik of Findlay, Patrick (Nareen) Bodnarik of Orlando, FL, Pete (Helen) Bodnarik of Oviedo, Florida, Steve (Yasuko) Riccardi of California, Edward (Dorothy) Bodnarik of Grafton, Michael (Esther) Riccardi of Fairview Park, John (Sandra) Bodnarik of North Carolina; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and a great great grandson. John was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Barbara Riccardi; 6 brothers, Joseph, Edward, George, Albert, Paul and Peter and an infant sister, Mary. Visitation will be held Friday, September 24 from 6-9 p.m. at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 512 N. Main St., Wellington. Friends may also call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the church. Father James Reymann will serve as officiant and burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
