John E. Chronister, 87, of Shiloh, OH died on Sunday, April 27, 2025, with his loving family by his side. John was born on August 3, 1937, in Richland County, Ohio and remained in the area his entire life. He was the son of the late Stanley E. and Mildred (Spriggins) Chronister. John was a 1955 graduate of Savannah High School.
John worked for Tuby in Shelby for 35 years and was a lifelong farmer as well. After retirement, he liked to supervise the guys in the fields and spent many hours watching over them. He liked to hunt, especially groundhogs and raccoons. John was a member of the Richland County Farm Bureau, coon hunters club, and a member of the Adario Dart Ball League.
John had a passion for sports, both as a player and a fan. He often shared stories of his time playing and proudly said he had played for the Globetrotters. Above all, John loved nothing more than cheering on his children and grandchildren at their own sporting events. John was an avid watcher of golf tournaments on TV and a proud supporter of the OSU sports teams.
He married his beautiful wife Carolyn (Kochenderfer) on April 21, 1957, and shared 68 years together. They loved traveling together and even embarked on an adventure to Germany and Hawaii. His daughter-in-law Marsha introduced John to frappes; it soon became a daily trip to McDonalds for their lunch and of course a frappe.
