John C. Godley, age 53 of Greenwich, died Thursday, September 13, 2007 at his home. Mr. Godley was born February 20, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up in Vermilion and moved to Greenwich in 1996. He was a 1972 graduate of Vermilion High School and had served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He was an operating engineer with the Local 18. He was an avid hunter, motorcyclist and guitar player. John is survived by his wife of 13 years, Sally (Stevens) Godley; his mother, Nancy (Serle) Godley of Canal Fulton, Ohio; sons, John Evan Stevens of Greenwich, Jacob Godley of Texas, Jami Godley and John R. Godley of Columbus; sisters, Laurie Libbon and Susan Tarry both of Canal Fulton, Ohio and Lyn Godley of Reading, PA; and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, John 'Jack' Godley. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2007 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London.
