"Jack" Maguire
November 26, 1933 – July 3, 2023
John F. "Jack" Maguire, 89, of Sandusky, Ohio, died on July 3, 2023, at Firelands Community Hospital. He was born on November 26, 1933, in Yonkers, New York, to the late Bernard and Rita (Sullivan) Maguire. Jack lived in New York City until 1946.
He served his country as part of the United States Army in Hamburg, Germany. Jack served a 5 year apprenticeship with the former Union # 224, which is now the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union # 42, in Norwalk, Ohio. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Norwalk, American Legion in Milan, and former member of the Elk's Club in Huron, Ohio.
Jack was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed yardwork, gardening, camping, and traveling, especially to Bar Harbor, Maine. He was extremely handy and talented. Jack had actually built his current residence in Sandusky. He loved animals, especially "our dogs".
Survivors include his loving wife, Susan (Zorn) Maguire, of Sandusky; son, Matthew (Becky) Roth, of Sandusky, and their son, (grandson), Jed Roth; and daughter in-law, Cecelia Roth.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis D. Maguire; step son, Doug Roth; 5 step brothers and 5 step sisters.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Norwalk First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd., from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with a memorial service being held at 1 p.m. Burial will occur on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Meadow Green Cemetery, 2602 Bogart Rd., in Huron at 10 a.m. with full military honors.
