John J. Jason, 86, of Norwalk, died Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Gaymont Nursing Home. Born on March 25, 1934, in Medina, he was the son of the late John and Eleanor (nee Lamphear) Jason. John's family moved from Oberlin to Savannah when he was in the 6th grade and he was a 1952 graduate of Savannah High School.

John worked as a farmer, and later served as the Postmaster for Collins for many years, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed old cars, both admiring them at car shows and working on them as his family's fix-it man. He also enjoyed working on puzzles. John was a devoted man of God and was very active with the Gideon's, and would travel and preach in the area. He was a deacon of his church, led many bible studies, taught Sunday school, worked with the Golden Agers, and volunteered with youth groups. Life for John centered around his family, and he cherished being a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Frances (nee Fast) Jason; children, John Michael (Dorothy) Jason, of Thailand, Diana Lynn Dupont, of Willard, Lynda Diane (Dan) Glagola, of Washington, PA, Mitchell Keith (Tonja) Jason, of North Fairfield, Lorrie Ann Pelham, of Elyria, and Matthew Eugene (Jennifer) Jason, of Ohatchee, AL; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Ronald (Jacqueline) Jason, of Stigler, OK. John was preceded in death by his sister Joanne Vermilion.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, September 22, at Collins Cemetery, for a drive thru visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of a graveside service beginning at 11 a.m. Donations in John's memory may be directed to Gideons International, PO Box 97251, Washington DC, 20090-7251, or the Alzheimers Association, 225 N.
