Obituary

John A. Jordan, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on June 29, 2018. Born in Oberlin on June 19, 1943, he was a graduate of Black River High School in 1961. As a high school student, he was a leader in his local Future Farmers of American (FFA) club and was awarded the prestigious Star Farmer Award. He continued to support FFA throughout his professional career and served as a mentor and teacher to many students and young farmers. John attended The Ohio State University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture. John had a good life and he was proud to be a farmer and good steward of the land. He was a hard worker who loved farming and the outdoors. He was the owner and operator of Pleasant Meadows Farm and also was a distributor of All Plant Fertilizer. He and his family raised champion Corridale and Montadale sheep. He was a lifetime Golden Eagle Member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and shooting sports. He raced sports cars in SCCA events in the late 60's and early 70's. He also loved watching auto racing on television. His prized possession was his red, 2014 Stingray Corvette with the license plate "FSTFMR". He was preceded in death by his mother Dorris and father Howard Jordan and his wife, Claudia (Boyer) Jordan who passed away in 2003. He will be dearly missed by his wife Terri (Shivers) Jordan whom he married in 2007 and his children Amy (Ralph) Smoyer and John (Margaret) Jordan and his granddaughters Samantha and Sadie Smoyer as well as his brother Tom Jordan and sister Nancy (Tom) Pifer and many relatives and friends. Friends and family may gather to celebrate John's life on Thursday, July 5th from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home in Wellington, Ohio and a funeral service will be held there on Friday, July 6th at 11 AM. Donations in his memory may be made to Sullivan Nazarene Church, 495 US 224, Sullivan, OH 44880 or the Sullivan Volunteer Fire Department, 500 US 224, Sullivan, OH 44880.
