Obituary

John D. Kinter, 73, of Nova passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, June 4, 2016 at his home. John was born on January 2, 1943 in Wellington to the late Francis Roger and Marietta (nee Youngless) Kinter. He served his country with the U.S. Army, was stationed in Korea, and was a part of the 227th Assault Helicopter Battalion. John married Lois (nee Blasius) in 1967. They spent over 48 years together. He was an amazing dad and doting grandfather. He was known to be a very funny, caring, loving man, and a defender of his family, a rebel when needed, and a hard worker. He was full of energy and life, attending nearly all his grandchildren's sporting events, recitals and activities. He helped build two of his children's homes, worked on cars, played and coached softball and baseball, drag raced when he was younger, and was a huge NASCAR fan. He also loved wildlife and liked to watch birds. John lived in the Nova area for most of his life. He retired from Sarver Paving where he was a Teamster and had worked as a truck driver for over 27 years. In addition to his wife Lois, John is survived by his children, Iva (Jeff) Hall of Nova, John R. (Stacey) Kinter of Wellington and Kurt Kinter of Nova; grandchildren, Taylor Hall, Camryn Hall, Johnnie Kinter and Annaliese Kinter; sisters, Shirley Ferber of Greenwich, Lois (Ken) Drushell of Nova and Mary Jo (Alva) Pay of Mt. Vernon. He is also survived by many close friends, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Patsy Kinter, Iva Kinter, Loren Kinter, Sally Kinter-Robinson, Francis "Tuff" Kinter, Norman "Pete" Kinter, and brother-in-law Edward Ferber. His family will greet friends from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London for a memorial visitation. A mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Our Lady Help of Christians in Nova, 240 OH-511, Nova, with Christian burial following at Nova Cemetery with military honors.
