Wakeman, Ohio - John C. Noftz, 84, of Wakeman, Ohio, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018, in his home. He was born October 20, 1933, in Green Springs, Ohio, to the late Carl R. and Agnes B. (Eischen) Noftz, and lived in this area most of his life. John was a graduate of Milan High School. He was a former employee of the Schlessman Seed Company, and was a member of the Carpenters Union #940, working on several projects, and rides, at Cedar Point, and had built several homes in the area. John was a member of the Norwalk and New London Eagles Clubs, and the Norwalk American Legion Club. He enjoyed gardening, was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing, and playing cards. John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruth A. (McGinn) Noftz of Wakeman, Ohio, by his children, John A. (Janice) Noftz of Milan, Ohio, Ronald L. Noftz of Norwalk, Ohio, Melody (Mike) Magers of Bellevue, Ohio, and Lisa M. Mortensen of New London, Ohio, by 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Eugene Noftz of Fremont, Ohio, Larry (Jane) Noftz of Norwalk, Ohio, and by his sisters, Jo Ann (Richard) Conaway of North Fairfield, Ohio, and Bonnie Noftz of Norwalk, Ohio. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Noftz in 2003, and by his sister, Shirley Sipp. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Kenneth Blystone will officiate. Interment will be in Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery.
