John Henry Rodgers, 72, of Wellington, died Monday, June 3, 2024, at home after a long illness. Born on June 23, 1951 in Bedford, he was the son of the late John and Henrietta (nee Gerdes) Rodgers. John grew up in Maple Heights and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
John worked 33 years at First Energy, formerly CEI. Following his retirement, he began working for C&K Industrial in Independence for another 10 years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors especially fishing and hunting. Most of all John cherished his family and the time spent with them having cookouts and gatherings.
Survivors include his wife, Patti (nee Messersmith); children, Candice (Ed) Snyder, of Kent, Jennifer Taylor, of Colorado, M. Adam (Amber) Hart, of Lorain, Kelli (Bill) Dowhaniuk, of Old Brooklyn, Jonathan (Megan) Rodgers, of Avon Lake, and Ryan Rodgers, of Middleburg Heights; 12 grandchildren; a sister Elizabeth Burdyshaw; nephew, Thomas (Jen) Burdyshaw and niece, Kimberly (Dave) Dickson. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Rodgers and brother-in-law Tom Burdyshaw.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, June 14, from 4-7 p.m. at Norton –Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington.
