John R. Ross, 69, of Norwalk, has "taken the broken wings of this life and learned to fly", transitioning on to heaven on January 19, 2021.  He was born on November 4, 1951 in Norwalk, Ohio to the now deceased Richard S. and Mary E. (Nestor) Ross. He was a 1970 graduate of Norwalk High School.

John was a family man, musician, guitarist, and avid music lover, starting to play guitar in the 8th grade in a band called "US". He then went on to play in numerous other bands, including, "The Silver String Band", "Telegraph Road", "Ross & Lawrence" and the Beatles tribute band, "The Revolvers". He was a meticulous, detail oriented and talented mason, who was a longtime member of the masonry union.  John loved his family, the outdoors, his dogs, "Max" and "Duke" and an occasional cold Mike's Hard Lemonade.  He served his country as part of the United States Army during the Vietnam War and at one time studied forestry in college in Montana.

Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Carol (Minniear) Ross; children, Paula Smith, Michelle Stockmaster and Eric Braker; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Marsha (Ron) Vogus and Nancy (Ron) Mackey and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Ross.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk from 1 P.M until 3 P.M.  Visitors to the funeral home are reminded to bring and wear a mask and be prepared for the possibility of waiting outside once current reduced capacity limits are reached until other visitors exit allowing for more room for social distancing.  A graveside committal service and inurnment are being planned for a later date with military honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the donor's favorite charity.  Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com
