John B Sands, 23, of New London, died October 2, 2017, the result of an automobile accident. John had a light within him that uniquely made him special. He was a wonderful son, brother, nephew, grandson and friend, and a genuine blessing to those who knew him. He had a quiet, but sincere personality that could be described as larger than life, and a smile to match.
He was born on January 26, 1994 in Philadelphia, PA to R. John Sands Jr. and Maureen (Randall). John was athletic and had played several sports in high school. He liked to work out, flex for pictures, and had dreamed of "getting big". John graduated from New London High School and had a goal of becoming a police officer. He was actually traveling back from a class which would have been his final credit in criminal justice at Bowling Green State University when the accident occurred. John loved kids, and had a gift for relating to them extraordinarily well. He had been helping coach track and football at Cloverleaf High School. He was kind, caring and gentle soul. He liked to joke and tease with his friends and had a knack for timely sarcasm.
John was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New London. He had worked previously for American Powersports and was currently working at the New London Foundry.
He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his parents, Maureen (Shawn) Randall of New London, and John (Denise) Sands Jr of Pennsylvania; siblings, Maegan Sands, Sean Sands, Alexis Sands, Shawn Randall Jr., Nathan Randall and Jonathan Randall; grandparents, Barb Sudell and George W. (Patricia A.) Randall Sr.; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond J. (Maureen) O'Donnell and cousin David Orr.
