Obituary

John Vernon Williams, 88, of Wellington, died Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the Elms Retirement Village. Born on January 6, 1937, in Fairview, WV, he was the son of the late Lorne Paul and Lottie (nee Tennant) Williams. Following graduation, he joined and served in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Vern worked as a radar technician on F 86 D Saber Jets and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

Vern moved to Wellington in 1960 to work for the Ford Motor Company, retiring after 30 years. He later worked for the Village of Wellington, maintaining the Rec. Park. Vern was an active member of the Wellington First United Methodist Church and the Wellington Eagles. He was a talented wood worker and enjoyed tending to his yard. He liked to go on hog hunting trips and always made time to watch his grandchildren's sporting events. Most of all he cherished time with his family, either sitting on the porch or going to dinner.

Survivors include his children, Rick (LouAnn) Williams, and Nancy (John) Frye, both of Wellington; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin (Jeannie) Willaims; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Haught.
