Joseph Frank Bakos died Sunday morning, February 15, 2015 at his home, he was 71. He resided in Nova and previously lived in the Huntington and Wellington areas. Joseph was born March 2, 1943, in Elyria, son of the late John and Mary (Szaniszlo) Bakos.
Joe served in Vietnam as part of the U.S. Army. He most recently worked for and retired from GM in Elyria. He previously also worked for Sterling Foundry of Wellington, Concrete Masonry (CMC), Nova Telephone, and at one time owned a stump removal business in Nova.
Joseph was a member of the New London Eagles, VFW 150, AMVETS, Wellington VFW and the American Legion.
He made many fond memories socializing with friends and family at cookouts, clubs and gatherings. He also enjoyed following his boys wrestling meets.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ann (Martin); sons, Joseph Shawn (Linda Byrd) Bakos of Hawaii and Jason Robert (Krystal) Bakos of Nova; siblings, Barbara (Jerry) Redman of Ashland, Mike Bakos of Elyria, John (Carol) Bakos of Wisconsin and Ernie Bakos of Lorain and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom and Jim and sister, Violet.
His family will greet friends from 3 - 7 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London where a service will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 20, 2015. Burial will follow in Nova Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contribution in his name may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, Ohio 44805 or the charity of their choice.
